Enhancing Oral English Communication Ability of Thai EFL Undergraduates via Interactive Reading Comprehension Teaching (IRCT)

This paper reports on the effectiveness of Interactive Reading Comprehension Teaching (IRCT) in improving oral English communication ability Prince Songkla University (PSU) undergraduates. It is based a pre- and post-test quasi-experimental study employing IRCT, composed self–study reading assignments structured peer-teaching project. The participants who were purposively sampled to partake included 105 second- third-year undergraduates from various faculties enrolled functional course, which 46 was assigned control group 49 treated as experimental group. One-on-one assessments administered both groups at end course after IRCT implementation. results showed had very positive effect skills students group, significantly their confidence motivation toward speaking English. students’ opinions questionnaire also revealed high improvement, reinforced by evidence close observations, interviews, student work samples. was, therefore recommended reading-based approach communication.
